Fraport on-time cargo down

FRANKFURT Airport (Fraport) saw its cargo volume sink by 23.3 per cent, to 406,954 metric tons for the first quarter of 2009.

While such a drop is certainly worrying Fraport has found one silver lining from it: flight punctuality improved by more than 15 per cent – from 71.1 per cent last year to 86.8 per cent.

It admitted that the improvement could be partly attributed to the lower traffic volume but insisted that recent optimisation initiatives, in partnership with air traffic control and the airlines, were also a major factor.
