French airport strike hits in middle of weather upheaval

FRENCH air traffic controllers have decided to launch a strike despite Europe already suffering delays from the freezing weather conditions. The controllers have walked out for 48 hours in protest at reorganisation plans. Both Paris airports – Charles De Gaulle and Orly – and Marseille will be affected. In response to this and mainly because of the snow, the French Civil Aviation Authority has asked airlines to cut air movements in half flying into those airports. As usual, airfreight is being sidelined to focus on passengers. What level of delay this will mean to forwarders is not yet known and they are advised to contact their respective carriers for more up-to-date information.Connecting transport via road is also likely to be delayed due to the weather.
