Funds to put MidAmerica on the map

IN the US, Lambert-St Louis International Airport, whose dreams of Chinese cargo crumbled, could now find itself dwarfed by its smaller neighbour.

MidAmerica Airport, which was created to alleviate some crowding of Lambert, will get a global cargo boost following the release of new funds.

The St Clair County board has approved a resolution to issue US$550 million in bonds to support a new overseas cargo airline at the airport. The air cargo service would fly to South America and Asia.

Last year Missouri lawmakers failed to pass tax incentives in a special session which would have helped to create an international cargo hub at Lambert-St Louis International Airport.
