Great Wall adds Tianjin

GREAT Wall Airlines will add Tianjin to its freighter network on 30 March, 2008. The new cargo flights will be operated by its B747-400 freighter fleet with a frequency of five flights weekly; three flights weekly routing PVG-TSN-AMS and two flights weekly routing PVG-TSN-AMS-MAN.

Great Wall Airlines is the first carrier to offer direct schedule freighter flights to Europe from Tianjin.

President of Tianjin Binhai International Airport, Shao Dengxiang, said: “We are pleased to welcome Great Wall Airlines to Tainjin. The direct international cargo service provided by Great Wall Airlines will help enhance Tianjin’s position as one of the premier international air cargo hubs of Northern China. With the rapid growth of Tianjin’s economy, the demand for air cargo transportation in this are is booming. Our plans to improve airport facilities are proceeding well. By 2010, the annual cargo turnover at Tianjin Airport will reach 500,000 tons. We are confident that this cooperation between Great Wall Airlines and Tianjin Airport, will make significant contributions to the economic development of Tianjin.”

President of Great Wall Airlines, Tan Kai Ping, said: “Great Wall Airlines has listened to the needs of our customers in making this decision to serve Tianjin. The support we received from the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China, the Tianjin Municipal Government and our partners at Tianjin Binhai Airport, convinced us that this is the correct decision. Our freighter services from Tianjin will enable us to support the supply chain needs of our customers for northern China. It is also our way of affirming our confidence in the future of Tianjin.
