Heathrow’s half year cargo boost

Cargo volume at London Heathrow increased 4.1 per cent to 726,469 tonnes in the first six months of 2014, with “notable increases” on routes serving China, Japan, Brazil and the US.
Airport management at the UK’s largest hub said that 35.1 million passengers travelled through Heathrow in half year, a 1.9% growth driven mainly by intercontinental traffic.
John Holland-Kaye, new chief executive officer of Heathrow, said: “Heathrow has performed well over the last six months.”
He added: “My vision is to build on that record of continuous improvement, driving Heathrow to win the case for expansion and become one of the best airports in the world – an ambition which will give the UK a great springboard to continue to compete successfully in the global economy.”
