Iberia struck by two-day strike

SPAIN’S Iberia Airlines has cancelled 440 flights because of a two-day strike by cabin crews. The 48-hour stoppage started on Sunday at midnight and affected about a quarter of Iberia’s flights on domestic, European and trans-Atlantic routes. Another tw0-day strike is planned for the 10 and 11 NovemberThe strike was called by labour unions representing more than 4,000 staff, who want an end to a four-year pay freeze. They say other Iberia workers, such as pilots, have had wage increases. In a statement, the airlines said it is “trying to avoid an unjustified strike and is calling on the responsibility of the unions organising the strike to cancel it”.
