Kelly’s replacement at TSA named

ED Kelly’s replacement as general manager cargo at the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is Doug Britten.

Britten is the TSA’s current manager of air cargo programs and in his new role will be responsible for the controversially draconian Certified Cargo Screening Program (CCSP). Due to terrorist threats and attacks, the US public and government are insisting on the full screening of cargo, first on passenger aircraft this year and next year on freighters.

Over 90 per cent of US cargo is sent via widebody aircraft through the top 18 US gateway airports, and it will be on these, Britten said, that the brunt of the work to meet the deadline will fall. In addition, with only 90 days left to the deadline and with many shippers still unregistered Britten says he expects a rush of late applications as they begin to realise that the government has no intention of shifting the deadline.
