Kuehne and Nagel appoints new chairman

KLAUS-Michael Kuehne and the board of directors at Kuenhne + Nagel have appointed Karl Gernandt as the company’s new chairman.

In 2008, Kuehne announced Gernandt as his successor in important functions within his scope of responsibilities to which belong the Kuehne Holding, majority shareholder of Kuehne + Nagel International, and the Kuehne Foundation.

“I have decided to pass further responsibilities into younger hands. I am convinced that Gernandt as my successor in the function as chairman will ensure stability and continuity, fostering the company’s further development,” Klaus-Michael Kuehne (pictured) said.

Kuehne remains as majority shareholder, honorary chairman and member of the board of directors’ nomination and compensation committee.

Peter Ulber, chief operating officer, sea and air logistics, will not extend his contract at the end of the year due to personal reasons. The board looks to fill the position internally soon.
