LAX traffic plummets

Cargo traffic at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has dramatically fallen 17.1 per cent in September, its sharpest decline for seven years.

LAX is the largest air gateway for Asian goods into the US but cargo tonnage has declined at a double-digit pace for two straight months. It was off 8.4 per cent in the first nine months of 2008 and down 7.5 per cent compared to the same period a year ago.
