Liège expands international cooperation

LIÈGE Airport has signed its second international deal in two months.
The Belgian hub has inked an agreement with China’s Chongqing Airport to encourage cooperation and strengthen the exchanges between the two airports.
Liège did the same thing with Greater Moncton International Airport in New Brunswick (Canada) in September.
The goal with Chongqing is to research developing the airport business, secure ongoing synergies and improve the performance of each of the airports.
Liège volumes climbed 32.7 per cent in 2010 against 2009, data from Airports Council International shows.
The airport is the European hub for TNT Express Worldwide.
“The partnership can offer much more than just another link between Europe and China. Via the existing customers in Liège, every remote corner of Europe can be reached. Daily cargo flights into Africa, as well as scheduled connections with the Americas, link all Liège to the rest of the world,” Luc Partoune, chief executive officer of Liège, said.
