MASkargo closer to magic 10

ON 15 September MASkargo took receipt of the first of four A330-200Fs. Once all freighters are received the Malaysian cargo player will have a fleet of 10 freighters.

The four A330s will complement its two 747-400Fs and two 747-200Fs in the current fleet.

“The A330-200Fs allow us to develop new trade lanes between Asia, Europe and Australia which may not be viable using a bigger capacity aircraft,” managing director Shahari Sulaiman said.

The destinations for the new freighters are Karagandy (Kazakhstan) to tap the Russian market, Osaka (Japan) and Taipei (China).

The first flight is expected to commence in the first week of October.

MASkargo is also talking to authorities in Chengdu and Chongqing (both China) to start operations in both cities. China now contributes about 35 per cent to the carrier’s revenue. MASkargo expects the ratio to remain although the value would increase because of higher contributions from its operations in the Far East.
