MASkargo’s new freighter service

MALAYSIA Airlines’ cargo division, MASkargo, launches a new freighter route linking its Kuala Lumpur hub to Bangkok (Thailand) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam).
An A330-200F will be used to operate the twice-a-weekly service.
Mohd Yunus Idris, MASkargo’s acting chief executive officer, explains: “The strategic addition of Ho Chi Minh City into our route network signifies the growing importance of the Vietnamese market and its trade relations with Asian countries.”
China’s rising labour costs is forcing manufacturing to move to other Asian countries, such as Vietnam.
The national carrier has embarked on a route consolidation programme to reduce its losses, which includes using interline partners for destinations previously served with the group’s belly hold capacity.
