MENZIES Aviation will write off US$4.6m (£3m) in a cargo shake up.
A spokesman for the John Menzies plc aviation subsidiary says they are focusing their UK business on Heathrow and two smaller operations at Aberdeen and Belfast.
Menzies will close operations at Glasgow, Birmingham, East Midlands and Manchester.
John Geddes, group company secretary for John Menzies plc admits it is a painful decision but he pointed out that the loss would have been greater staying at these smaller hubs.
“This is not a decision we have taken lightly,” he says. “We have made this strategic decision because our space at these airports was not full and our position is uneconomical for us to continue."
