MIQ Logistics warns of summer supply chain disruption as Chinese factories close for G20 summit

Freight forwarder MIQ Logistics has warned of potential supply chain disruption this summer as Shanghai factories are closed ahead of the G20 Summit in Hangzhou.
The forwarder said that its Shanghai office was receiving reports that factories in Shanghai and Hangzhou were being instructed by officials to prepare for slowdowns and partial and total shutdowns ahead of the meeting of the world’s leading economies, which runs from September 4-5.
MIQ said the moves to close factories were related to a clean air campaign, which could start as early as June.
“With the Summit not opening until September, importers sourcing from the Shanghai area could face a summer of supply chain disruption,” MIQ said.
