More Rio capacity for IAG Cargo

IAG Cargo is offering customers additional capacity between London and Rio de Janeiro, due to an increase in British Airways passenger flight frequencies from October.
The key Latin America route will be serviced daily by a B777-300ER, replacing the B777-200 currently on the route.
The additional flight brings the weekly total on the Rio de Janeiro route to seven, creating an additional 42 tonnes a week.
Rio de Janeiro and Latin America overall, have proved to be important growth markets for IAG Cargo.
In 2012, the London-Rio de Janeiro route alone generated 2,759 tonnes.
David Shepherd, head of commercial at IAG Cargo, comments: “The additional flights will prove highly beneficial to IAG Cargo’s South American business and our customers, allowing us to increase our offering in a market that is showing real growth amidst difficult global conditions.”
IAG Cargo operates 30 flights a day from Latin America. This equates to more than 150 tonnes shipped from the area every day.
