Mumbai cargo workers hold flash strike

CARGO workers at Mumbai Airport (pictured) held a spontaneous strike last week bringing operations to a stand still, in protest over a lack of facilities.
“Around 9,000 contract cargo workers, belonging to multiple cargo handling agencies at the Mumbai airport, are on flash strike to protest about the lack of basic amenities and other issues," the airport says.
The strike has hampered cargo operations at the airport, which has almost come to a standstill.
Private developer Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) later met with the strikers and reached a deal, although details have yet to be released.
“Their issues were addressed in a meeting today following which the workers resumed work,” a MIAL spokesperson says.
