Ogiermann steps down as Cargolux CEO

FOLLOWING the price-fixing charges brought against Cargolux’s chief executive officer (CEO), Uli Ogiermann, the carrier has appointed Frank Reimen (right) its new CEO. Ogiermann becomes special advisor.

Reimen is currently first government adviser of the department of transport at the Luxembourg Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure.

“Frank Reimen has outstanding management and leadership qualities”, said Marc Hoffmann, Cargolux’s chairman of the board. “He has years of experience and in-depth knowledge of the aviation sector in general and the air cargo industry in specific. As a director of the Cargolux board, he has actively participated in decisions of high importance related to Cargolux, especially during the difficult business environment in 2009.”

The company said that releasing Ogiermann from his management duties would give him more time to prepare his defence against the charges, a task “not reconcilable with an effective day-to-day management of the company under trading conditions that will be challenging”.

Reimen will take office on 1 January, 2011. David Arendt, executive vice-president and chief financial officer will be interim CEO until that time.
