Outsource to save money – Outsourcing Dubai 2011

OUTSOURCING Dubai 2011 delegates today were shown just how the practice can save money in the most unlikely of places.

One aspect often overlooked is payment fees. WCA Family members urged the association to find a way to reduce expensive bank transfer rates. “Short of visiting [the likes of] HSBC and asking them to reduce their fees, we outsourced banking solutions. Now WCA members can pay each other for free. This has saved our members $10 million,” David Yokeum, WCA president, said.

Overall, outsourcing components means Emirates can focus on its core business and reduce costs by 36 per cent, Ram Menen of Emirates Skycargo, said. Menen went on to say that the best outsourcing decision Emirates has made is to outsource its ACMI, which it has been doing for the last 17 years. What did not work in his view was to outsource ULDs. “It is critical mass driven and made no sense for us to do it.”

Speakers on day two represent Maximus Air Cargo, Global Aviation Holdings, Unitpool, Wings 24 and Swissport.
