Qatar Airways appoints former Cargolux Asia chief

MATTHEW MA has been appointed vice-president of cargo for Asia at Qatar Airways, writes Thelma Etim, deputy editor
The former Cargolux executive worked at the European all-cargo airline for 41 years, ending his career at the carrier as head of its Asia Pacific region.
Ulrich Ogiermann, chief officer of cargo at Qatar Airways, comments: “Matthew has an excellent track record in the airfreight industry and we are glad to find someone of his calibre to fulfil this role.” 
Ma adds: “It is indeed the opportune time to join Qatar Airways Cargo and share their vision of achieving the top five cargo airlines position. I am excited to start a new challenge and look forward to further developing their growing business.”
