Qatar expands cargo routes

THIS year Qatar Airways will launch four new cargo routes and upgrade two existing ones.

From late March new routes include twice-weekly services to Johannesburg (South Africa) and Seoul (Korea); once weekly to Muscat (Oman); and the reintroduction of the Karachi (Pakistan) offering on 3 April.

The carrier’s twice-weekly service to Milan (Italy) will be upgraded to a 777F, as well as its Amsterdam (the Netherlands) service.

“We are entering new passenger and cargo markets where we see a need for more air services, particularly where such markets are under-served and in need for extra capacity,” chief executive officer Akbar Al Baker says. “This year alone will see Qatar Airways take delivery of one new aircraft every 15 days, so as we bring them in, they will quickly be inducted into service and we will continue to look at new opportunities.”
