Qatar first class for four legs

Qatar Airways Cargo has moved 40 of the world’s most admired show jumping and dressage horses for a major event in the equine sporting calendar.
A specially chartered B777 freighter carried the four-legged passengers from Amsterdam to the International Federation of Equestrian Sports’ World Cup finals in Las Vegas.
The plane was specially equipped with air stables for business class standard of comfort throughout the 11 hour flight.
Cabin service was provided by a team of ten grooms and a veterinarian on the journey from Schiphol Amsterdam to McCarran International Airport.
The B777F’s capacity also came in useful for 11 tonnes of sporting equipment, including tack, blankets and boots.
Qatar Airways’ chief officer cargo, Ulrich Ogiermann, said: “We have a wealth of experience transporting star-performing horses around the world, and strive to provide our equine travellers with the same five-star experience as our human passengers, even offering a five-star horse hotel in our home base Doha.”
