Russian airfreight up

FEDERAL Air Transport Agency (FATA) statistics reveal Russian carriers transported 5.9 per cent more cargo between January and August this year against the same period in 2010.

The top five cargo airlines have experienced a mixed bag for the year with AirBridgeCargo volumes up 20 per cent; Polet saw a rise of 29.5 per cent; and Transaero lifted 33.8 per cent more.

The two remaining major airlines did not fare so well during the eight months. Aeroflot was down 5.8 per cent; and Volga-Dnepr’s cargo declined 34.5 per cent.
