Saudia launches from India

SAUDI Airlines Cargo has started a bi-weekly freighter flight from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (India) to Europe, Africa, America and west Asia.

“Introduction of a freighter from the state capital is a significant highlight in increasing our presence in India. [With our] Indian freighter network, besides covering Mumbai, Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram, [we] also plan to operate from New Delhi by the first quarter of 2012,” Saudi Airlines Cargo director (Indian subcontinent) Jonathan Collins said.

The airline will use 747Fs and MD-11Fs with a carrying capacity of 75 tonnes.

Saudia operates 12 freighters and utilises the belly-capacity on 125 passenger aircraft.
