Schiphol strengthens China link

CHINA Cargo Airlines (CCA) has launched a daily 777 flight to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (the Netherlands), a month following new China Southern Airlines flights to the airport.
CCA, which merged with Great Wall Airlines and Shanghai Airlines Cargo in June, has now switched its own operations from Luxembourg to Schiphol, and replaces the services previously operated from Schiphol by Great Wall Airlines.
CCA is a joint venture between China Eastern Airlines, shipping line COSCO, EVA Airways and Singapore Airlines Cargo. CCA now operates a total of 19 freighters – five 747Fs, six 777Fs, three MD-11Fs, two 757-200Fs and three A300-600Fs.
CCA markets the bellyhold capacity of more than 330 passenger aircraft belonging to its shareholder China Eastern Airlines.
“This further adds to Schiphol’s appeal both as a transhipment hub for carriers, and as an operating base for logistics providers seeking a gateway between Europe’s largest economies and the rest of the world,” Schiphol Cargo’s senior vice-president Enno Osinga said.
