Singapore reveals Changi plans

FEDEX has opened its US$79m Changi base just in time according to Singapore logistics chiefs.
The US logistics operator joins Panalpina and DB Schenker in making recent investments in Changi, which development boss Kelvin Wong says puts them at the forefront of a logistics gold rush.
The hub will be the US firm’s first express transportation base in Singapore and the largest FedEx consolidated facility in Asia Pacific.
Wong, executive director for logistics on the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), hopes the FedEx base will provide a model for other prospective investors.
Wong comments: “Singapore is developing a concept plan that will provide strategic direction for the future development of Changi Airport."
It is a plan, which appears to be working – to read the full interview with Wong will be available in the next edition of Freighter’s World out on November 22.
