SkyCargo expands down south

EMIRATES SkyCargo’s portfolio now includes new South American destinations following the launch of a daily passenger service from Dubai (UAE) to Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Buenos Aires (Argentina).

In addition to the belly-hold capacity of the 14 passenger flights each week, the carrier also offers cargo space on a further 14 weekly passenger flights between Dubai and South America’s largest city Sao Paulo (Brazil), both using 777-300ERs.

SkyCargo also runs a dedicated freighter service to Sao Paulo three times a week, providing a further 620 metric tonnes of capacity on 777Fs.

“Emirates’ new direct flight will not only boost trade ties with the UAE, but also with South America’s main partners in the Far East, such as China, Hong Kong and Japan and numerous points throughout Europe,” Robert Siegel, manager cargo commercial – Europe and Americas, says.

The carrier also looks to boost pharmaceuticals and automotive trade between Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires.

Emirates will expand its African network on 1 February, adding Harare (Zimbabwe) and Lusaka (Zambia).
