Southern Air’s new 777Fs block booked by Thai

SOUTHERN Air has added two Boeing 777 freighters to its fleet. The first was delivered earlier this month and the second will be delivered on 2 March.

Thai Cargo has entered into a block space agreement with Southern Air to use the full capacity of the first two 777Fs. They will operate out of the Asian carrier’s facility at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok.

Pruet Boobphakam, new executive vice-president commercial of Thai and former Thai Cargo managing director, said: “We are delighted to be the first in the region to provide this capability to our customers. The 777s are truly best-in-class planes and will be valuable additions to our cargo offerings.”

Southern Air’s new chief executive officer, Daniel McHugh, said: “The addition of these two Boeing 777s – the first to join our fleet – is a defining moment in the history of Southern Air that begins the next phase of the company’s growth.”
