Stobart to start passengers flights out of Southend

FURTHER to the news that Stobart has bought Southend Airport for niche cargo shipments, Andrew Tinkler, chief executive of Stobart, has said that they will soon look to start passenger flights across the UK and Europe. It is hoped that these will help to drive freight opportunities.

“Stobart has the necessary skills, including rail infrastructure and civil engineering expertise, to make a positive impact on the airport’s development plans,” he said.

The freight and haulage company, which already operates Carlisle Airport, bought Southend Airport for £21 million.
