Strong 2012 for Saudia Cargo

Saudi Airlines Cargo has posted record revenue figures – a result it credits to its freighter operations.
While the result itself did not come as a shock it is distinguished by the contrasting fortunes of many of its competitors around the world.
According to the Association of European Airlines , for example, freight traffic fell four per cent compared to 2011, which is eight per cent below 2008 levels.
In contrast Saudi grew its revenues by 20 per cent in this year.
Fahad Hammad, chief executive of Saudia Cargo, says: "November was a record month in what has been an incredibly successful year to date.
“In addition to achieving all-time highs in both October and November, 2012 will be an overall record year for Saudia Cargo with a total growth in revenue of 20 per cent.
“Results for January to November 2012 indicate total boarding figures of 471,000 tonnes, representing a growth of 19 per cent compared with the previous year.
“The main contributors to our growth were exports from Europe, East Africa and the UAE as well as cargo from our network into Saudi Arabia and West Africa,” adds Hammad.
