Transavia man steps into the breach for Air France KLM Cargo

Transavia chief Bram Graeber has been appointed temporary executive vice president of Air France KLM Cargo, following the departure of current chief executive Erik Varwijk.
Graeber was number two at KLM Cargo between 2003 and 2007, before leaving to head up Transavia, the leisure airline arm of the Air France KLM group.  He will retain his responsibilities as executive vice president of Transavia.
A spokesman for Air France KLM said that it was not known if his appointment would be made permanent, or if there was currently an active search for a head of cargo.
But he added: “He is a very hard worker and I am confident he can do both jobs for some time, whether it’s for a few months or a year. He also knows the cargo environment very well.”
Graeber takes charge of Air France KLM at a difficult period of its history. The carrier has announced a drastic slimming down of its freighter fleet in a bid to stem mounting losses, and many months of delicate negotiations with the trade unions are in prospect.
Air Cargo News will feature an interview with Erik Varwijk in our next issue.
