Trouble and strife for BAs Walsh

BRITISH Airways chief executive officer Willie Walsh’s offer to work for free in July has backfired. Walsh made the offer as a gesture for seeking widespread cost cutting in the company, including staff pay cuts. However, he forgot to tell his wife, who only found out by reading the newspapers.

What her reaction was is unknown.

Walsh’s pay used to be £701,000 but he has recently received a six per cent pay rise that will take it to £743,000.

BA has already cut 2,500 jobs but is looking to lose another 2,000.
