UIA takes delivery of first B737-300SF

UKRAINE International Airlines (UIA), has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737-300SF freighter to provide additional cargo capacity between Kiev and Vienna.

The 16 tons and 127 cubic m capacity aircraft, enters commercial service in July and will be marketed on UIA’s behalf by its exclusive worldwide GSA partner, Globe Air Cargo, part of the European Cargo Services (ECS) group.

Offering greater uplift and volume, the aircraft will initially operate three flights a week every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between Kiev and Vienna.

Frequencies on the route will increase to five flights a week in early August with the launch of Tuesday and Thursday services.

The arrival of the new aircraft, has been welcomed by Globe Air Cargo and ECS. Guy Tordjman, president of ECS, said: “UIA has a strong reputation for the reliability of its all-cargo services between Kiev and Vienna, so this increase in capacity means we can provide greater support to the airline’s freight forwarding customers and also carry shipments that were previously restricted because of their size.”

The business partnership between UIA and ECS began in 1993 and cargo has subsequently become an important and growing factor in the airline’s success.
