UK transport institute chooses Robin Proctor as new chief

Robin Proctor is to become the next president of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) in the UK, taking over the one-year role from Will Whitehorn on May 12.
Proctor has worked in supply chain and e-commerce roles with some of the UK’s biggest retailers, including Sainsbury’s, Iceland, Booker, MFI/Howdens and Wickes and for the last ten years has been executive director of builder’s merchant, Travis Perkins Group.
He said: “This is an important time for our profession; innovation in mobile technologies has placed transport and logistics performance at the heart of business propositions, and investment in innovation, infrastructure and skills is required during this time of economic uncertainty.
"I hope to play an active role in leading change and promoting CILT’s influence as we head into this exciting era for the logistics and transport profession.”
