Uncertain outlook at SDV

OTHER freight companies might be reporting a strong bounceback in volumes, but Herbert de Saint Simon, chief executive officer of French-based forwarding and logistics group SDV, is not cracking open the champagne.
He reports only a “slight” recovery at the end of 2009, and says that was due to a restocking of inventory after very low levels early in the year. “And 2010 has not started very well – not at all,” he says. “Maybe the second quarter will be a bit better, but if 2010 stays at the same level as 2009, we will have problems.”
