US air cargo carriers share $228m military contract

US air cargo carriers have won a share of a $228m military contract from the Transportation Command.
The contract was awarded to 14 airlines is for international commercial scheduled air cargo transportation services.
Services the carriers will provide included  time-definite, door-to-door pickup and delivery, in-transit visibility, expedited customs processing and clearance of less-than-full planeloads for the movement of regular and recurring hazardous, refrigerated/cold chain, life and death, narcotics, and other regular recurring cargo shipments.
This deal has a five-year maximum ceiling value of $228m with a contract guaranteed minimum award amount of $2,500 per awardee.
The contract runs from February 1, 2018, to January 31, 2019, with four one-year option periods.
The 14 carriers that are included in the contract are: ABX Air, American Airlines, Air Transportation International, Atlas Air, Delta Air Lines,  FedEx, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Miami Air International, National Air Cargo, Polar Air Cargo Worldwide, UPS, Jet Airlines and Western Global Airlines.
