Vietnam Airlines makes Globe Air Cargo UK GSA

VIETNAM Airlines has appointed Globe Air Cargo, part of the European Cargo Services (ECS) group, as its exclusive GSA partner in the UK.

The new contract is part of the airline’s preparation for the launch of flights to London, hopefully in 2009. In the meantime, Globe Air Cargo in the UK will truck cargo to Paris to connect with Vietnam Airlines’ daily Boeing 777 services. From Charles de Gaulle International Airport, the airline operates four flights a week to Ho Chi Minh City and three flights weekly to Hanoi.

This latest agreement is a further extension of the business partnership between the airline and ECS. Vietnam Airlines appointed the ECS head office in Paris as its GSA in France in 1992. Since then, the airline has awarded ECS with new contracts in Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Switzerland.

Mark Pulling (above right), managing director of Globe Air Cargo in the UK, said: “The growth in the working relationship between the airline and ECS reflects both the successful results we have achieved and the added value for carriers of choosing a network GSA in terms of business generation and cost efficiency. We can offer a highly attractive solution for UK originating traffic via Paris and this will improve further when Vietnam Airlines commences UK operations.

“Vietnam Airlines has an extremely attractive route network. In addition to Vietnam itself, it offers wide-bodied flights to Australia and Japan as well as Cambodia, Laos, Korea, Singapore, Taipei and Thailand.”
