WCA conference attracts nearly 3,000 forwarders to Singapore

Freight forwarder network WCA hosted its 10th Annual Worldwide Conference in Singapore between March 4 and 6, at which more than 2,900 independent cargo agents came together.
Moreover, more than 100,000 face-to-face meetings were held over three days of the networking opportunity.
“This year’s gathering was our biggest yet, and that is testament not only to what we do as a network but to the dedication of our members,” observed Dan March, WCA chief executive.
“They’re constantly hungry for more: more partnerships, more solutions, more innovation, and more business. Gatherings like these are vital for all of our delegates and it’s why we continue to see record numbers.”
“We went above and beyond this year to make sure our members knew that what we’ve accomplished is 100 percent thanks to them,” added David Yokeum, founder and chairman of WCA.
“We wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for a handful of those first companies who instilled their trust in us and our idea.
“Today, with more than 6,800 enrolled offices, our members are as passionate and dedicated as they were on day one.”
WCA’s 10th Annual Worldwide Conference also incorporated a number of business-enhancing tools, products and workshops, the most notable of which – it suggests – was a variety of daily e-commerce workshops.
“Over 400 people attended eCommerce workshops and think tanks this year, all excited to learn more about the sector and how they can profit from it,” said Alex Allen, WCA eCommerce director.
“Our goal is to equip them to be successful in this highly competitive space. We want them to feel confident that WCA stands behind them as they enter the new age of freight forwarding.”
Other workshop topics included Risks & Liabilities for US Regulatory Compliance, eTailer Expectations from Shipping Companies, Gateway Logistics, and Fulfillment by Amazon.
WCA describes itself as “the world’s largest and most powerful network of independent freight forwarders”. Its  more than 6,800 agent offices are to be found in 191 countries around the world.
