Weak November for cargo at Asian and Middle Eastern hubs

Airfreight volumes remained weak in November in the Middle East and Asia, reflecting the “slowdown of the Chinese economy and uncertainty in the commodity exporting countries”, according to latest data from the Asia-Pacific arm of Airports Council International (ACI).
Freight volumes in the Asia-Pacific region declined by 1.5% and the Middle East was essentially flat, with volumes edging down 0.5%.
Among the top ten freight hubs in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, six out of the top ten recorded declines in freight volumes with the exception of Dubai (DXB) up 3.8%, Beijing (PEK), up 2.8%, Singapore (SIN) recorded a 2.6% increase, and Guangzhou (CAN) saw volumes jump by 4.7%.
By comparison, passenger traffic grew by 7% in the Asia-Pacific region and 10.4% in the Middle East during November.
