West Air launches new freighter service

IN a departure from its normal mail/integrator business, West Air launched a new dedicated freighter service linking Oslo and Stavanger in Norway with Aberdeen in the UK on 3 June. One of the airline’s 30 ATP freighters is used on the route, incorporating the large cargo door to allow the loading of outsize pieces.
Introduced to service the growing need for rapid connections for the oil and gas industry, the service runs on a Tuesday and Thursday routing Oslo-Stavanger-Aberdeen and returning to Oslo via Stavanger.
Vice-president sales & marketing, Hans Nilsson, said; “We have aircraft on the ground during the day in Oslo, so we can afford to take this risk. We are hoping this service will prove a great success and we will add ad-hoc charters according to demand.”

West Air will dedicate a spare aircraft to the service and have sufficient airframes to ensure there is no risk of the night mail services being compromised, according to Nilsson.

West Air has appointed Euro GSA to sell the service in the UK and Kales Aviation Services as its GSSA in Norway.
