Growth in the use of electronic air waybills (e-AWB) continued to slow in February, with an increase in useage of just 0.3 percentage points compared with January.

The latest figures from IATA show that e-AWB penetration reached 37.5% in February compared with 37.2% in January.

The increase in usage of just 0.3 percentage points follows on from a 0.8 percentage point jump in January.

IATA has set a target of 56% penetration across the industry for the year.

At the recent IATA World Cargo Symposium, the organisation's director general and chief executive Tony Tyler said the pace of adoption of e-AWB must accelerate.

By the end of 2015, e-AWBs were being used on 36% on shipments. To increase this ratio, the industry, needs to work with governments and airports to achieve targeted initiatives such as those laid out by IATA, he said.
