AEI picks Flightstar to boost freighter conversion capacity

Aeronautical Engineers Inc (AEI) has selected Flightstar Aircraft Services, based in Jacksonville, Florida, as an authorised conversion centre to meet market demand for passenger to freighter conversions.
AEI’s passenger-to-freighter conversion products, which currently include the Boeing 737-400SF, MD80SF and CRJ200SF, and which will soon add the B737-800SF, "require that additional conversion capacity be added to handle the present market demand", said AEI in a statement.

AEI currently has four active authorised conversion centres worldwide, which include Commercial Jet in Miami, Commercial Jet Services in Dothan, Alabama, KF Aerospace in Kelowna, Canada, and Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co in China.
The combined production line capability of those facilities offers a total of 11 to 13 conversion lines for AEI at any one time.

Flightstar was chosen by AEI as the fifth authorised conversion centre based upon "its vast experience in passenger-to-freighter modifications", said AEI, in addition to its "full line-up of maintenance service offerings".
Flightstar will set up one line of passenger-to-freighter conversions at its Jacksonville facility for AEI beginning next month (May 2017) starting with of a B737-400SF freighter conversion which is being modified for San Francisco-based Vx Capital Partners.
