EFW wins potential A320P2F order from Guangdong Aerocity

Hard on the heels of a contract for the conversion of 10 Airbus A321-200 passenger aircraft on behalf of Vallair Solutions, Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with China’s Guangdong Aerocity Holding Co for a potential order for 10 A320P2F conversions.
Andreas Sperl, EFW chief executive, said: “Similar to the A321P2F solution, A320P2F offers unique features such as both upper- and lower-deck containerised loading which make them an attractive option in the narrowbody freighter segment.”
EFW pointed out that by containerising both decks, the A320 and A321 conversion programmes are the first in this size category to facilitate “volumetric  usability”.
“We hope to secure a firm order before long from Guangdong Aerocity, whom we look forward to supporting together with our parent company, ST Aerospace and its global network of maintenance facilities,” Sperl added.
ST Aerospace carries out the engineering development phase of EFW’s A320 and A321 conversion programmes, which were launched in 2015, up to STC approval. Its partner in the joint venture, Airbus, provides OEM data and certification support, while EFW is responsible for leading the programmes as well as marketing and sales activities.
