Unilode Aviation Solutions, the outsourced ULD management and repair company formerly known as CHEP Aerospace Solutions, has appointed Benoît Dumont as chief executive.

The current president and chief executive, Ludwig Bertsch, will join the board of directors, with both appointments effective as of September 1 this year.

Brambles, the Australian-based parent company of CHEP Aerospace Solutions, sold its airfreight equipment arm to Sweden's EQT Infrastructure II investment fund in November 2016. The ULD company underwent a rebranding exercise in February this year.

Dumont worked several years for financial analysts McKinsey & Co, focused on the transport and logistics sector. He then joined DHL Express Europe in 2004 and DHL Supply Chain EMEA in 2009, where he held the positions of director of operations, managing director, senior VP of operations, and most recently as chief executive for Germany, Alps & Nordics.

Said Unilode: "In these positions, Benoît Dumont implemented new commercial strategies, performance management and engagement models, and achieved significant revenue growth."

Dr Bertsch commented: "I have been engaged with the company over the past 17 years since we pioneered the ULD pooling concept within Swissair in 2000.

"I am very proud of this multinational organisation that we have built together over the years and I feel this is the right time to transition to the next generation of leadership. I am very pleased that we have found such a high calibre successor and am absolutely confident that Benoît is the right person to lead the company forward into its next phase under EQT Infrastructure's ownership.

"I will continue to be involved with the company as a non-executive board member. I want to thank our great teams around the world as well as our customers for their support, confidence and trust and I will certainly miss the inspirational work environment that we have created together."

Dumont said: "Ludwig and the management team have executed a strategy that has positioned the Company well for continued success and I am committed to capturing the enormous opportunities in front of us. I look forward to working with everyone at Unilode and leading the company into the next growth phase while continuously improving the services to our customers."

Peter Nilsson, chairman of the board of directors of Unilode, added: "On behalf of the board and everyone at Unilode, I thank Ludwig for his leadership, commitment and dedication throughout his tenure as president and CEO, and look forward to benefiting from his experience in the board.

"Ludwig has been a true visionary who brought Unilode to where it is today, and set the stage for the great business opportunities that lie ahead. Ludwig laid a solid foundation for his successor and with Benoît we have found a proven leader with the right mix of expertise, leadership skills and operational capabilities to bring Unilode to the next level."
