LAN Cargo signs CHEP

Latin American largest airfreight carrier, LAN Cargo, has signed an agreement to outsource the repair and maintenance of its ULDs and pallets at Miami International Airport to CHEP Aerospace Solutions.
The agreement will use CHEP’s proprietary repair management software ACTIS – providing real-time repair status information – at LAN Cargo’s hub stations.
LAN Cargo operational support senior manager, Orlando Gaete, said that the “guaranteed quality and airworthiness of our cargo equipment will enable us to strengthen our position in Miami”.
Gaete added: “ACTIS will provide us with full visibility on parts usage, labour costs and repair turnaround times.
“As we work towards our corporate goals to improve operational efficiency and further reduce CO2 emissions, repairing our damaged ULDs in the US rather than shipping them back to South America will help us increase cargo capacity and reduce fuel burn and carbon emission."
CHEP Aerospace Solutions president, Ludwig Bertsch, said: "Our recent contract wins with renowned airlines including Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines and Air France demonstrates the value of our asset management expertise and global repair network and we look forward to our new partnership with LAN Cargo."
