Shipco Airfreight is the latest company to launch a rate quoting and booking portal as the sector continues to develop its digital offering.

The air cargo consolidator said that its Air2Z platform allows customers to look up a rate from any US zip code, on any any airline, to any destination served.

Users can than offer that quote directly to their customers directly from the rate tool, book the shipment, track progress and download associated shipment documents and cargo images.

Air2Z displays rates on more than 60 airlines, allowing the forwarder the “opportunity to choose the airline and service option that is just right for his specific shipment”.

Shipco director of airfreight sales Renee Graves said: “Turning quotes around in a reasonable time has always been a challenge. However, now the customer can pull his own quotes in a matter of seconds, 24/7. And it is not just a cookie cutter rate the customer will see. Air2Z identifies shipments where a spot rate might be available – and that’s when we engage in a more specific discussion with our customer.”

While the air cargo industry often comes under fire for its slow progress when it comes to adopting digital services, several new products have been launched over the last year, most recently Panalpina and Kuhne+Nagel have launched new products.

Certain carriers have also been praised of late for their progress on digitisation.
