Jet Airways suspends all international flights until Monday

Troubled Indian airline Jet Airways has suspended all international flights until Monday night, with fears mounting that it could fail.

The airline has debts of $1.2bn and earlier this week cargo handler WFS seized one of its aircraft over unpaid fees.

Today, the airline announced that all international flights would be suspended until Monday when reports suggest it will meet with lenders.

The airline said it “regrets the inconvenience caused” and added that its “management and its key stakeholders including its consortium of lenders, continue to work closely towards resolving the current situation”.

There was no update on the airline’s cargo website.

On Thursday the airline had grounded 10 of its fleet of 115 aircraft as a result of unpaid fees. Indian Oil Corp is also reported to have halted fuel supplies, although others were still supplying fuel on a pay as you go service.

On Monday, State Bank of India led a group of lenders in inviting bids for a stake in the airline of as much as 75%.
