Entrants get their thinking caps on for think-a-thon

Yesterday (Tuesday, June 4), the so-called think-a-thon got underway at transport logistic.

transport logistic plays out alongside Air Cargo Europe (ACE) in Munich.

The topic for the think-a-thon is ‘automated process improvement in the supply chain on the basis of historical data and real time data’.

A total of 30 students have until tomorrow (Thursday, June 6) to develop ideas in the Think Tank in hall B2 at the event. They have the chance to discuss ideas with experts at the fair, and will present their results on Thursday.

The students are tasked with developing conceptual approaches that can lead to a “target-oriented use of the data volumes available in the supply chain and enable an automated process improvement”.

The intention is to inspire improvements that could further the cause of achieving complete transparency across the entire supply chain.

The potential for improvement that the think-a-thon targets extends to all logistics processes, both within individual operators as well as between companies active in the supply chain – suppliers, logistics service providers and customers.

Professors from the Augsburg University of Applied Science, the Technical University of Darmstadt and the Technical University of Munich will provide additional support for the students.

The topic was announced to the students only yesterday at the start of the event. Ideas will be developed across six groups of students.

On Thursday, the students will present their results at start.hub in short presentations, after which the best idea will be announced.

“All participants have started their project highly motivated,” insisted Robert Schönberger, exhibition group director for the transport logistic cluster at event organiser Messe München.

“We are convinced that the innovation project will benefit from the special trade fair atmosphere with 2,360 exhibitors. Many of them are also presenting new solutions for the first time here.”

Both transport logistics and ACE are running between June 4 and June 7 this week in Munich.
