EgyptAir flies into Dulles

Earlier this week (June 4), Washington Dulles International Airport welcomed EgyptAir’s inaugural service from Cairo International Airport.

The carrier is flying the route between the Egyptian and US capitals non-stop three times a week. Boeing’s 787-9 ‘Dreamliner’ aircraft operate the transatlantic connection.

“The addition of EgyptAir’s new service at Washington Dulles greatly enhances our worldwide connectivity and adds an important link between Washington, DC and the Middle East,” added Jerome Davis, executive vice president and chief revenue officer at Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), operator of Dulles International.

“With the addition of EgyptAir to our growing roster of 35 international carriers at Dulles International Airport, we now offer more than 70 daily flights to nearly five-dozen non-stop international destinations across the globe,” enthused Jack Potter, president and chief executive of MWAA.

Ahmed Adel, EgyptAir Holding’s chairman and chief executive, described the new link as a “long-sought-after” connection.

EgyptAir took delivery of its first B787-9 in late March.

Dulles represent EgyptAir’s second passenger service gateway into the US.

The Cairo link is the latest addition to Dulles International’s air network. The city is the 36th global capital served from Dulles.
