JAL and Kalitta in freighter codeshare

On August 1, 2019, Ypsilanti-based Kalitta Air began operating three Boeing 747-400F flights per week between Tokyo-Narita and Chicago O’Hare under a codeshare agreement with Japan Airlines (JAL).

In recent years, JAL has chartered freighter flights as necessary to satisfy seasonal demand, but the new deal with Kalitta Air enables it to offer scheduled freighter services between Asia and North America.

A JAL statement said: “Together with Kalitta Air, JAL will strive to deliver a more comprehensive freighter network and provide convenient options for the company’s valued customers.”
