Hacis expands road feeder operation

Logistics firm Hong Kong Air Cargo Industry Services Limited (Hacis) has extended its SuperLink China Direct (SLCD) scheduled road feeder services to Zhuhai and the western Pearl River Delta (PRD).

The new services are the result of Hacis collaborating with Chu Kong Shipping Enterprises (Group) Company Limited’s (CKS) logistics arm following the signing of a strategic partnership agreement covering the development of joint logistics activity throughout the western PRD.

The western PRD is home to many electronics manufacturers and technology companies, and Hacis and CKS have identified the potential demand for air-road intermodal services to serve this sector, following the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, which provides a faster and more cost-effective connection to and from Hong Kong International Airport.

Hacis’ SLCD service network now includes Civet Port – located adjacent to the exit of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge – and the surrounding area of the PRD. The move has been facilitated by Zhuhai Customs’ approval of the Quick Pass System, which uses an electronic lock and GPS technology to enable the Customs authority to monitor cross-border cargo – minimising cargo inspections at the border, streamlining the clearance process and expediting the flow of transshipment cargo.

Hacis managing director Vivien Lau said: “Hacis is now able to take full advantage of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge to provide fast and efficient road feeder services to and from its new depot in Civet Port – the ninth Hacis mainland Chinese location.

“The depot is ideally-located at Hongwan, in Zhuhai’s Nanping Town, adjacent to the Zhuhai Free Trade Zone. This new SLCD route will cover Zhuhai, and additional centres in the western PRD such as Zhongshan, Jiangmen, as well as the Hengqin special economic district and Macau. We can also now serve Zhuhai airport, so extending coverage to other mainland cities by air.”

Hacis is the logistics arm of Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited.
